We're mostlt beyond the point of restoring original cars unless they are total basket cases. They are only original once and maintaining as much originality as possible should be the #1 priority.

THAT was a cool video. I love that he leaves that Hertz Shelby in it's current shape - it's cool that way ... and ... it RUNS! Plus all the other stuff he has. Gonna be interesting to see what happens when he passes away ... no family it sounds like.

This guy occasionally comes up in forum talks. Specifically about why he never washes it or repairs it. it's a point of contention for most in the mustang world. At the end of the day, it's his car and he can do what he wants with it.

Why not wash the Mustang? And then cover it with a nice car cover 🤔

Some holes are there to let water and moisture out. That big hole around 17 minutes in, on the outside, down low.....the frame forms a sort of vessel, and needs to be drained. Well, you just filled in the drain. Rust will develop in that area now. Now I'm guessing this car will not always be driven in the rain, never see snow, and will be garage kept. So rust is not going to be a problem.

What a cool couple to meet and an awesome place to see... There was a Hertz like that near my college and I would stop in and ask to buy the Shelby. Very nice older man who no longer drove, never said yes, though his family wanted him to. 🙂 All the best in your years ahead.

It's theirs, and they get enjoyment from it as an original.....this is America, and we love our cars. What happens to it later, well.....hard to say......but it looks like it will survive on for many more years given the exposure.

This car needs to be put in a Barber where the temperature will preserve it for people to enjoy the way it is.If they don't it will rust and then it's nothing but an old car.
